My standard frame mouldings are all made from a very lightweight solid wood called ayous. Big picture frames will sag and bend if they’re made from heavier wood and not battened on the back. You would also have to screw the frame to the wall. My frames are light enough to have on a standard picture frame hook – if you have none, we sell them as well.
The ‘Black Wood’ and ‘Wenge’ frames are 30mm wide and 20mm thick and spray finished to achieve an open grain effect (so they don’t just look like plastic!).
The ‘Oak’ moulding, 26mm wide and 20mm thick, has a real oak veneer covering the ayous then finished with a clear satin lacquer.
All mouldings I use are 100% FSC approved, meaning the wood is from forests that are managed to the highest environmental, social and economic standards.
