The 3D maps have stopped. The mountains haven’t.

Dorrigo stopped printing their 3D relief maps. The Lake District, Ben Nevis and Yorkshire Dales are gone from my range, and once my last few sell, that’s it. But if you’re here because you love the shape of mountains on a wall, I’ve been building something of my own.

You probably came here for the Lake District map. It’s gone.

Dorrigo printed vacuum-formed raised relief maps for the best part of 40 years. Wonderful things: the terrain actually shaped into the surface, tactile, accurate, recognisable to anyone who knows the ground. The Lake District map was the one people asked about most, and I sold a lot of them.

But Dorrigo stopped production. Not my decision, and not one I saw coming but I can’t reorder. Once the last few go, they’re gone for good. The Lake District, Ben Nevis, British Isles and Yorkshire Dales maps are all sold out from me now. That’s just how it is, and I’d rather be straight about it than leave old listing pages pretending otherwise.

Besides contacting Dorrigo direct, you could call book shops ‘local’ to the area of the map you would like or take a look on eBay.

Here’s where things stand

I have three options for you, depending on what you’re looking for.

Every Wainwright on one large framed map. Built for planning routes, tracking progress and slowly filling in colour as you tick them off. A serious wall map for serious walkers.

My remaining Dorrigo maps

A small number of less common areas and A4-size maps still available. These are the final ones I have, and they won’t be coming back. If there’s something here you want, treat it as last chance stock.

Is there something here for you?

A quick guide to whether I can still help.

  1. Good for anyone who loves mountain maps and wants something genuinely well-made on their wall.
  2. Good for Wainwright baggers, fell walkers and Lake District obsessives at any stage of the journey.
  3. Good if you’re after one of the last few Dorrigo maps still available, mainly smaller areas and A4 sizes.
  4. Not the right page if you specifically need the Lake District or Ben Nevis 3D relief map. Those are gone and won’t be coming back.

35 years of fell walking behind every design decision

I’m not a cartographer, I just love the hills. I’ve done all 214 Wainwrights. I’ve navigated the Lakes in winter, in clag, in the kind of weather where a paper map has to earn its keep. I know what a mountain looks like from the ground, and I know what matters when you’re looking at it on a wall.

The Dorrigo maps were brilliant because they showed the shape of the land. That’s what I’ve tried to carry forward. Different method, same intent: show the mountain for what it actually is.

The mountain is still there.
